“Tambayaki, thought to have originated during the Heian Era, has seen significant changes to production techniques over the years, thus creating more diversified products. The oldest climbing kiln was made in 1895 in Kamitachikui and is registered as a Tangible Folk Cultural Asset of Hyogo Prefecture. Tambayaki also represents one of the “”Six Old Kilns of Japan”” along with Shigaraki, Bizen, Tamba, Echizen, Seto, and Tokoname, which still continue production to this day. It was designated a National Traditional Craftwork named “”Tamba Tachikuiyaki”” in 1978.”
