“There are many great minute building sculptures that are put for the sanctuary of Kasuga Shrine. They were made by the Nakai family of engraver who were very successful in the Tamba district until late into the Edo Era. This shrine was registered as a tangible cultural property of Japan in 2015. Every October, “Hongo Kasuga Odori” is performed at the Kasuga Shrine Festival. It is an inherited history and tradition from the middle to the end of the Edo Era which was strongly affected by Kyoto culture.”
