“Sasaba Shrine Festival (Hata Festival) is held on the first Saturday and Sunday of October. Ten floats come in and march around the precincts of the shrine in Yoimiya. The highlight of Honmiya is Yabusame (A type of mounted archery in traditional Japanese archery.) An archer on a running horse shoots three special “”turnip-headed”” arrows successively at three wooden targets. Yabusame was often played from the end of the Heian Era to the Kamakura Era but it was still played around 1625 in Sasayama.
